Every registered taxpayer is issued a GST Registration Certificate in Form GST REG-06. Once your registration is approved, you can download the certificate from the GST portal at any time — it takes less than two minutes.
A business generally needs to register under GST once its aggregate turnover crosses ₹40 lakh for suppliers of goods (₹20 lakh for suppliers of services), with lower limits in special category states. Small businesses may also opt for the composition scheme.
When your application is approved, the GST department emails you that your registration has been approved and the certificate is available on the portal.
Steps to download the GST certificate
- Visit the GST portal at www.gst.gov.in.
- Click Login at the top right of the page.
- Enter your username, password and the captcha, then log in.
- From the dashboard, go to Services → User Services.
- Select View / Download Certificates.
- A table lists the form number, description and date of issue. Click Download.
- The certificate is saved as a PDF on your device — open it to view, print or share.
If you are a new taxpayer (first-time login)
If you are logging in for the first time, use the provisional credentials emailed to you by the GST department when your registration was approved.
- On the GST portal, click “First time login: If you are logging in for the first time, click here”.
- Enter the provisional username and password from the email, along with the captcha.
- You will be asked to create your own username and password.
- Log in with your new credentials and follow the steps above to download the certificate.
Tip: Display the GST certificate prominently at your principal place of business and at every additional place of business — it is a legal requirement.
